Our community

We have a talented and knowledgeable team of employees who are keen to share that wealth of expertise within our local communities. To help them, we offer 24 hours of volunteering time per year. They can use this to undertake their own personal volunteering, or to contribute to the range of Citizenship programmes organised by the bank.

These include skills and experience; from one-off employability, enterprise and business planning workshops, to ongoing primary tutoring, adult literacy sessions, mentoring and trusteeships.

This is another way for our employees to enhance their skills and personal development and in turn developing the skills of our local communities. In fact, 80% of our staff in our annual survey attributed improved communication, leadership and people management skills through their involvement in CSR, while more than 70% said they had improved problem solving, time management and adopted new ways of working.

Our support for CLIC Sargent

We collectively support our staff-selected charity partner through various initiatives. In March 2018, we were delighted to announce our partnership with CLIC Sargent.

When cancer strikes young people, CLIC Sargent helps limit the damage it causes beyond their health. They know young cancer patients’ education, employment and futures can falter. CLIC Sargent provides specialist support to guide each young cancer patient and their family. They fight tirelessly for them, so they can focus on their medical care and recovery.

Over the next three years, we will be working together to ensure a young person’s potential isn’t limited by a cancer diagnosis, supporting our global commitment to inclusion through education and employability.
