Kleinwort Hambros and Global Philanthropic to host leading philanthropy event

-The Hon Ronnie C. Chan and Dame Stephanie Shirley to speak at Talking Philanthropy 2018-

London, 13 September 2018: More than 160 philanthropists and people linked with fundraising and charitable organisations are set to gather in central London on Friday 14 September to discuss a variety of key topics, including wealth transition trends and the role and experience of Women Philanthropists.

Organised by Global Philanthropic and London-based wealth manager, Kleinwort Hambros, ‘Talking Philanthropy’, is becoming the most important thought leadership event in the philanthropic sector in Europe. This year follows on from a successful event last year, which marked a new partnership between Global Philanthropic and Kleinwort Hambros, aimed at helping philanthropists and non-profit organisations achieve their philanthropic vision.

Guest speakers at Friday’s event include The Hon Ronnie C. Chan GBM, Chairman of Hang Lung Group Limited, entrepreneur and philanthropist and Dame Stephanie Shirley CH, Workplace revolutionary, IT entrepreneur and ardent philanthropist. BBC Broadcaster and leading arts journalist, Kirsty Lang, will chair the day.

Also speaking will be Rebecca Constable, Head of Philanthropy for Kleinwort Hambros, as well as Ben Morton-Wright, president and group CEO of Global Philanthropic. The event will include several breakout sessions, with participants being tasked to solve real-life fundraising issues and key note speeches titled, ‘Family Philanthropy – A Global Philanthropist’s View’ and ‘A Leader’s View of Women in Philanthropy’.

An award ceremony will also take place, which will see Global Philanthropic recognise outstanding leadership in philanthropy by an individual who has shown creativity, courage and innovation through acts of philanthropy.

Rebecca Constable says: “We are thrilled to co-host an event of this type two years in a row. Last year’s event was a huge success and we envisage the same this year. I very much look forward to hearing the views of all the speakers, especially the views of a number of influential female global philanthropists. It is our continued aim to support our clients who wish to structure their giving so that their generosity is as effective as possible. The event today is just one of a number of initiatives to help our clients to evaluate the strategic challenges around giving.”

Ben Morton Wright, added: ‘We are delighted to have again attracted so many distinguished guests to our third ‘Talking Philanthropy’ event. Women play such a vital role in supporting philanthropy across the globe and it is hugely important their stories are heard first hand. Our own thought leadership programme continues to play a key role in driving the continued growth, development and professionalism of the sector.”
